ABOUT THE STUDIO
Over the past 20 years, the Javelina horn studio has developed a strong reputation as an outstanding undergraduate program for music education and performance. As of fall 2015, the TAMUK Music Department is excited to have added a MM in performance degree to our graduate program. I look forward to welcoming many future grad students.
Many Javelina horn alumni teach at numerous schools throughout Texas. Other graduates have gone on to receive master and doctorate degrees in horn performance and pedagogy at prestigious institutions. The students of the Javelina Horn Studio are recognized throughout the US and abroad as outstanding performers and the TAMUK Horn Ensemble is frequently showcased at regional and international symposia and are consistent competitors at International Horn Society events. Highlight studio performances include Texas Music Educators Association Convention Showcase Concerts and IHS Symposia in Alabama, Colorado, Illinois, Texas, Switzerland, Germany, and England. Most notably, the Javelina Horn Quartet won the 2014 AND 2019 International Quartet Competition at the IHS Symposium in London England and Ghent Belgium. Go Javelinas!

Members of our studio participate in a variety of academic and non-academic activities that hone their skills as future music educators and/or performers. Javelina horn players participate in several ensembles, such as marching band, concert bands, orchestra, horn ensemble, horn quartet, woodwind quintet, and brass quintet. For the students with broader music backgrounds or with the desire to expand their musical knowledge can also participate in jazz band, mariachi, and concert choir.
Our very active horn studio includes lessons, freshman warm-up classes, horn ensemble rehearsals, quartet rehearsals, and masterclasses.
To future horn majors, every player is held to the same standards of excellence. Your development as a player and performer is limitless. Each student will study with me and is expected to graduate having achieved excellence in
PERFORMANCE - PEDAGOGY - PROFESSIONALISM
